Publish

Learn how to publish your Pagesmith website to the web.

Publishing your Pagesmith website makes it live and accessible on the internet. When you’re ready, click “Publish” in the top-right corner of the AI Editor and choose where to publish.

Publishing Targets

When you click Publish, you choose a target:

Free Subdomain

Every Pagesmith site can be published to a free subdomain:

your-project-site.pagesmith.app

You pick the subdomain name on your first publish, and it’s locked in after that.

Custom Domain (Paid Plans)

With a Pro plan or above, you can publish to your own domain (e.g., yourbusiness.com). Connect your domain first in Workspace → Domains, and it will appear as a publishing target.

How to Publish

  1. Open your project in the AI Editor
  2. Make your changes — the preview updates automatically (only visible to you)
  3. Click “Publish” in the top-right corner
  4. Choose your publishing target (subdomain or custom domain)
  5. Your site is live within seconds

Hosting Features

  • Fast CDN - Global content delivery
  • SSL certificate - Automatic HTTPS on all domains
  • 99.9% uptime - Reliable hosting

Setting Up a Custom Domain

Pagesmith offers three ways to get a domain:

  1. Connect — Point a domain you already own to Pagesmith by updating its nameservers or adding a CNAME record.
  2. Register — Buy a new domain directly through Pagesmith.
  3. Transfer — Move a domain from another registrar to Pagesmith.

Connecting Your Domain

  1. Open your project in the AI Editor
  2. Go to Workspace → Domains
  3. Choose Connect, Register, or Transfer
  4. Follow the setup instructions

For detailed DNS setup instructions, see our Custom Domains guide.

DNS Configuration Summary

For subdomains (www.example.com, blog.example.com):

  • Add a CNAME record pointing to sites.pagesmith.app

For root domains (example.com):

  • Update your nameservers to:
    • ns1.pagesmith-dns.com
    • ns2.pagesmith-dns.com

After DNS Setup

Once your DNS is configured, SSL is enabled automatically — no extra steps needed. DNS changes can take up to 24–48 hours to propagate, though most complete within 1–2 hours.

Updating Your Published Site

The preview updates automatically after every AI edit, but the live site only updates when you publish:

  1. Click “Publish” in the AI Editor
  2. Changes are live within seconds
  3. All connected publishing targets (subdomain and custom domains) are updated
