Pagesmith

Publish

Publish a Pagesmith website to a managed subdomain or connected custom domain.

Publishing builds the current project version and updates the selected live address. Review the preview before you start.

Publishing Targets

When you click Publish, you choose a target:

Free Subdomain

Projects can use a Pagesmith subdomain when the current plan allows it:

your-project-site.pagesmith.app

Choose the subdomain during setup. Check the workspace before publishing if you need to change an existing address.

Custom Domain

Custom domains are available on eligible plans. Connect the domain in Workspace → Domains before selecting it as a publishing target.

How to Publish

  1. Open your project in the AI Editor
  2. Make your changes and review the preview
  3. Click “Publish” in the top-right corner
  4. Choose your publishing target (subdomain or custom domain)
  5. Wait for the build and deployment to finish, then open the live URL

Hosting Features

  • Cloudflare network: Delivery for published sites
  • SSL certificate: HTTPS after certificate setup succeeds
  • Version history: A way to restore an available earlier version

Setting Up a Custom Domain

Pagesmith offers three ways to get a domain:

  1. Connect: Point a domain you already own to Pagesmith with the DNS records shown in the workspace.
  2. Register: Buy a supported domain through Pagesmith when registration is available.
  3. Transfer: Move a supported domain to Pagesmith when transfer is available.

Connecting Your Domain

  1. Open your project in the AI Editor
  2. Go to Workspace → Domains
  3. Choose Connect, Register, or Transfer
  4. Follow the setup instructions

For detailed DNS setup instructions, see our Custom Domains guide.

DNS Configuration Summary

For root domains (example.com):

  • Update your nameservers to:
    • ns1.pagesmith-dns.com
    • ns2.pagesmith-dns.com

After DNS Setup

After the DNS records resolve to Pagesmith, certificate setup can begin. DNS propagation time varies by provider, record, and previous TTL. Some changes can take up to 48 hours.

Updating Your Published Site

The preview updates automatically after every AI edit, but the live site only updates when you publish:

  1. Click “Publish” in the AI Editor
  2. Wait for the build and deployment to finish
  3. All connected publishing targets (subdomain and custom domains) are updated
